DIY or Call Us?

Here’s what you can safely check from inside: read the liner label, measure the diameter, and look up through the flue for daylight. If you see sky where the cap should be, or the mesh is hanging loose, you’ve confirmed failure.

Here’s where DIY goes wrong. DuraFlex caps install at roof height, often on a steep pitch, and the termination clamp must be torqued to manufacturer spec without over-tightening and deforming the liner bead. The sealant needs 24 hours to cure before the next rain, and most homeowners don’t have a second ladder to stage materials. More critically, a cap installed crooked or under-torqued will leak or blow off, and you won’t know until water damage shows up inside. We don’t recommend owner installation.
